I made it through Luke's birthday sleep over party last night. I had six 7th grade boys in my house. Waaaaay too much testosterone! And can they eat! Ü I set out a couple of bags of Doritos, and it was like a swarm of locusts had gone by. Empty bags in minutes. They were very good boys, though. No problems, and they were so nice to Ian. He thought he was just all that hanging out with the big boys. Shelby & Belle slept over at Grandma's.
We are headed to the river tomorrow to watch the Ski to Sea canoers go by. Our friends invited us for a picnic. I hope to get some fun pics. As soon as Iz gets home from the gym, I'm off to Bellingham (Costco) for a fruit plate and to pick up some pictures. I'll probably have to bring along a boy who has birthday money burning a hole in his pocket.
I am. Because I have the cutest bag in the WORLD that says so right on it. And the best group of girls in the world gave it to me. Ü The very sweet girls I work with at Treasury of Memories gave it to me for my birthday. As if the bag wasn't cool enough, it was filled with all my favorite stuff...rice krispy bars, gummy bears, Swedish Fish!, more candy, a wonderfully generous gift certificate....just so too much! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Ü Much love to all of you...
So tomorrow is Luke's birthday. His 13th birthday. gulp. Iz will be gone all day in Seattle, and Luke has a baseball game and youth group that he wants to go to tomorrow night. Sooooo, we had our little family celebration tonight at Homestead. He got to order off the regular menu...no more kids menu for him. Plus he got to open his presents from the family, and enjoyed his birthday sundae.
He's having 5 of his friends over Friday night for a sleep over. So you all can start praying for me now. Ü All they want to do is eat pizza and play X-box, so it shouldn't be TOO bad, right?
Wahoo...it's Thursday! And thankfully, I'm feeling better than I was yesterday. Belle jumped into bed with me at around 6:30 this morning. I refused to open my eyes, but I could feel her watching me, waiting for me to wake up so she could be the first to tell me happy birthday.
I got some wonderful presents this morning. I am a proud new owner of the Canon Digital Rebel XTI. Yippee! :) Also got the CK "Computer Tricks for Scrapbooking" magazine. Fun fun fun! I tried a few of the techniques yesterday, and am picking up the pics today at Costco. I don't think I'll ever be a digi-girl...but this magazine is great for doing fun things with your photos, journaling, etc. OH! And my BEST present...the Vidalia Chop Wizard! yes I'm serious. I can now chop anything! As seen on tv...It is the "fastest/safest/easiest way to chop or dice fruits, vegetables & more!" I know it's weird, but stuff like this makes me very happy! :)
Ian and I are going to Bellingham this morning. I get to spend my bday afternoon at the LMS baseball field. Luke's team has a double header against Blaine. We were hoping to eat dinner at Homestead, but I'm not sure how that's gonna work. Anyhow.
Ian & I went back to Million Smiles Park on Tuesday. I got him to go down the big, creepy slide. With me. To quote Shelby, "Wow mom. You fit in there?" yeah. And you know what? It IS creepy. Pitch black as you're going down the thing. We couldn't find our lobster buddy from the other day. I told Ian he probably had made it all the way to the ocean by now.
yesterday! I had such a nice day. We went to church and then to Bellingham. Ate at Applebee's, and it was actually good. :) The kids behaved and I was Queen for a Day. I must have laid it on pretty thick though, because this morning Ian comes into the bedroom (I was still in bed) and informed me "It's not Mother's Day anymore"...and then walked out. Oh well, I can be Queen again on my birthday on Thursday, right? :)
Shelby is officially done with soccer. yay! She's already deciding what to do this fall...soccer or volleyball? Belle has a Brownie event tonight...they're making Girl Scout bears at Build a Bear. Too fun!
That's the name of the awesome new playground at the Lynden City Park. If you have kids, and are going to be in Lynden...you must visit! :) Ian & I went today for the first time. It was pretty crowded, but way fun. Ian said his favorite thing was the rock wall. He wouldn't go down the big treehouse slide because it was, in his words..."too creepy".
Shelby is spending the night at her best friend Clara's house tonight. Friday night is movie night at our house. Belle & Ian are watching "Happily Never After", and Luke is watching "Eragon". I will be watching the back of my eyelids.
Since she posted about thinking up blog entry titles...I feel this pressure to be witty and clever. And I'm drawing a blank. Maybe I could wait and see what Amy comes up with and steal hers again. Anyhow... here's some stuff about Tuesday, May 7th.
Luke had a LMS baseball game at Blaine. Evidently there's no mercy rule in Middle School baseball. Which is really fun when you're the winning team, and very sucky when you're on the receiving end. The Lions won 24-0. Luke played left field and second base, and got 4 hits. He was pretty pumped.
Shelby had a Girl Scout meeting. They're planning a big fun overnight camping trip to Berthusen Park. She came home with a list and immediately started packing. Mind you, the camping trip is a week and a half away. But so cool to see her excited about it.
Ian had a T-ball game. Again, he said he "crushed" the ball. I gave him a hug and said, "that's nice dear" thinking he was maybe stretching it a little. Then Iz said that no, he had really hit it out of the infield over everyone's heads. :)
Belle had soccer practice, and then a 1st grade music/choir concert at school. 30 minutes of "Little Bunny Foo Foo", "You're a Grand Old Flag", and a song about a man made out of food, or something like that. Very fun. :) Here she is before her concert...
