1. that Alissa.
Look what she did for me for my Halloween present:
It's a yummy cinnamon streusel candle...all doodified and vinylized.
Target had these cool canisters a while back...numbered. But they only went up to 4. And I needed a 6...(Jacob 6 of us and all). So she took the vinyl No. 6 and put it on the candle holder. She's pretty darn cool, that girl.
Oh, and the gift tag:
Owly embossed, misted cuteness.
2. shelby, you're so funny.
She and I were goofing around outside yesterday, and she took this:
My homage to Austin Powers, evidently.
3. something that made me laugh (a lot) yesterday...(thanks for the joke Lori!):
A woman brought a very limp duck into a veterinary surgeon. As she laid her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird's chest.
After a moment or two, the vet shook his head and sadly said, "I'm sorry, your duck, Cuddles, has passed away."
The distressed woman wailed, "Are you sure?"
"Yes, I am sure. Your duck is dead," replied the vet..
"How can you be so sure?" she protested. "I mean you haven't done any testing on him or anything. He might just be in a coma or something."
The vet rolled his eyes, turned around and left the room. He returned a few minutes later with a black Labrador Retriever. As the duck's owner looked on in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws on the examination table and sniffed the duck from top to bottom. He then looked up at the vet with sad eyes and shook his head.
The vet patted the dog on the head and took it out of the room. A few minutes later he returned with a cat. The cat jumped on the table and also delicately sniffed the bird from head to foot. The cat sat back on its haunches, shook its head, meowed softly and strolled out of the room.
The vet looked at the woman and said, "I'm sorry, but as I said, this is most definitely, 100% certifiably, a dead duck."
The vet turned to his computer terminal, hit a few keys and produced a bill, which he handed to the woman..
The duck's owner, still in shock, took the bill. "$150!" she cried, "$150 just to tell me my duck is dead!"
The vet shrugged, "I'm sorry. If you had just taken my word for it, the bill would have been $20, but with the Lab Report and the Cat Scan, it's now $150."
4. the park.
I took some pictures of my friends kids yesterday. But before they got there, I was testing the light with Belle. She's such a good light tester. So willing. So cooperative.
So eager to take the $5 I offered her to be my assistant.
Worth every penny. :)
5. thankful book prompt.
Remember when I said life may get in the way of my creating and posting a page every day? (insert weak laughter here.)
That's my story from last night. When I intended to make a neato page from my Starbucks cup...I'm thankful for..............a guilty pleasure.
It's sort of 1/3 finished on my desk. I hope to post it later today.
I visited my Dad at the Care Center last night. And it was probably the worst 'episode' I've ever been through with him. It breaks my heart when he is stuck in his mind...and his reality isn't what's really happening...but it's completely real to him.
I know I've said it before, but it just hits me in the face (literally) how his personality is 180 degrees different than the person he was. That man last night was not my dad. :(
After a couple of hours (and some lovely medication) he was back to his normal self, and I tucked him into bed.
So for today, what are you thankful for........that might not be perceived as a blessing at first?
have a great Thursday!
