Because I have a case of Olympic fever. :)
I am so excited for the Opening Ceremonies tonight.
And hey, I hear there are still tickets to be had. According to CBS sports, there are still seats available. They fall into Category AA and cost on average, $3,151 each. Of course, you could be a total bum and settle for Category A and only shell out $2,505.
I'm thinking my comfy couch (with snacks!) and nearby bathroom will do very nicely.
How cool would it be to watch the 'dress rehearsals'?
And I love what they did with the Tower Bridge:
So what events will you be watching?
I want to catch some swimming...
A little Ryan Lochte & Michael Phelps. Ooh, and some Missy Franklin:
She is only 17! Go Missy Go!
Oooh, and some javelin:
I actually have no idea who this chick is, but I'm sure she throws far.
And her hair is really pretty.
When I googled 2012 Olympic Women's Javelin, there were no pictures. Which only supports my theory...the field part of track & field gets NO love.
Woohoo! Go you javelin throwers. You know who you are. Cuz we don't. :(
And OF COURSE, we will be (and have already been) watching soccer:
Belle's favorite player is Alex Morgan. She had 2 goals in our win over France. Woohoo! Go soccer girls...you rock! :)
I'm not a huge track fan...Iz likes it, so we'll watch that too.
I admit to liking synchronized swimming (although it gets very little air time):
Yeah, I have no idea who these legs belong to either.
No pictures of the women's synchronized swim team.
I don't know why I like it. It's kind of weird. When they do that freaky head jerk thing all together...that's just awesome. And let's hear it for the girls whose job it is to hold their breath for 6 minutes while being the ones underwater and hucking the tiny girls up in to the air!
Diving is fun too.
I love how after watching for like 5 minutes, I get all experty at it.
"Oh that sucked. Did you see all that splash?"
"Toes weren't pointed enough."
"He tooooootally under-rotated that!"
I'm pretty sure that if the diving judge gets food poisoning, they're going to call me.
So how about you?
What events are your faves?
