ONE. Shelby's back at West Point.
We left at 2am Sunday morning to get her to Seattle for her 6am flight. Ugh.
Goodbyes just suck. Although she's a pro at Seattle to Newark by now.
This morning the Class of 2020 (we're predicting their class motto will be 'With Vision We Lead' lol)...
does their March Back and Beast will be over. I remember what a good feeling that was!
This week is what they call Reorganization Week for the Cadets.
Class schedules, Shelby will be doing laundry (I hope), getting her room and stuff set up, books ordered,
Saturday is Acceptance Day...there's a big parade and ceremony where the new class is accepted into
the Corps. All the cadets are there...it's pretty awesome.
And then Sunday is Affirmation Day. That's for Shelby's Class...2018. I believe they get dressed up
in their India Whites (she has promised me a picture...but knowing her, it will be of her shoes, or something)
and have a ceremony to affirm their commitment to remain at West Point, graduate, and serve their 5 years
afterwards. It's a pretty big deal...for cadets only, not a parent thing.
We are so proud of you Shelby! (Please don't send me a picture of your shoes.)
TWO. The shower.
My brother Ned and his wife Tami were amazing hosts on Saturday for Luke & Hannah's shower.
I think for the kids, the best part was dodgeball...
"If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball."
See Jack? Front row, green shirt. He tried so hard to ambush Shelby.
But you just don't ambush a girl from West Point who's won two coins for ambushing.
Sorry, Jack. But it was hilarious to watch.
See Ella? Front row, little girl in the blue dress. She made Ian her personal target.
And Ian was such a good cousin. He died dramatic 'deaths'...laid on the ground,
took many, many shots...and at one point, even let Ella ride him like a horse while pounding him
with balls. Seriously, this girl has a future in dodgeball. Go Ella!
And good job Ian...you made her day, by her giggles. :)
Belle & Sophia...8 months/1 school year apart. Love them.
Cousins are awesome.
Such a great time. And Tami's yellow punch? I could have stood there with a straw
right in the dispenser. So yummy...I will need that recipe.
And she made some fabulous salad that made me like cauliflower and broccoli. Go figure.
Hannah, we love you and can't wait to officially have you in the family!
Painting and errands. Dry cleaners. The vet for a medicine refill. The Dollar Store. (I like the Dollar Store.)
Possibly Starbucks. Wouldn't it be great to win their 'Starbucks for Life' contest?
Even for a year, or a month. Holy cow.
