In honor of Vylit, a Lynden Middle schooler who tragically took her own life earlier this month, Belle painted this water color design and had it made into note cards. The local printer (thank you Print Stop!) donated all the printing costs. If you look closely, you can see Vylit's name in the lines of the bottom flower petal.
She is selling them for $1 each... with envelope. 100% of card sales will be given to Be the One mentoring program. (The video is awesome, by the way.) We will mail them (within the US)... or Belle delivers locally.
One card. Ten cards. One little dollar at a time, we can make a difference. Let me know. Leave a comment, Facebook me, email me: firstname.lastname@example.org
We are back from Spokane... Belle had a volleyball tournament. The girls did really well, finishing 5th!
Way to go SIVA!! One more tournament to go...Nationals in Dallas, TX next month!! Woohoo! Iz is going with her...I told him he'd better not come home without a big belt buckle, or an armadillo or something.
In other news...
I figure if the Commandant of Cadets can tweet it...I can put it on my blog. This is Shelby's Sandhurst team!! (She's in the back row...second from the left.) She and her roommate, Carolyn, are the only two girls on the team. The competition is coming up in a couple of weeks. Read more about it here. GO BUFFS!!!
In other, other news...
I just love this. So, so true.
Praying for my special friends today. You know who you are. <3
These are just the proofs...have to get the cards made yet. And this one she's going to tweek a little...but you get the idea:
TWO. This is what happens when...
A certain someone asks for chocolate chip cookies at 8:00 at night. So I bake them, and Belle has one with a glass of milk. Then a certain someone decides to throw a dog toy (shaped like sushi, came in the Bark Box yesterday...totally cute) and the dog toy misses Belle, but nails her glass of milk.
Then a certain someone cleaned it all up. Hint: It wasn't me, Belle, Shelby or Ian. And Luke & Hannah weren't there.
Picked her up Monday. Got home and her sister was on the treadmill...hence the garage picture:
That girl runs MILES at a time. Geez. It is so awesome to have everyone home.
Just, you know...a dog and his octopus. Nothing to see here. He LOVES that thing. And it honks. He's also one of those dogs that has to try and de-stuff everything... so Mr. Octopus has had several surgeries to date. Tentacle re-attachment mostly.
THREE. Possibly my favorite purchase at TJ Maxx in quite awhile:
Because who doesn't need a unicorn rainbow tape dispenser?
So I don't have pictures, because I'm lame like that. But guess who surprised me and flew home for Spring Break? Guess who was never going to the City with friends, but schemed with her father to surprise her mother? Love you Shelby! Excited to have a whole week with you home!!! :)
I promise to take pictures. My mom still doesn't know she's here. Neither does Belle, who has been in Colorado since last Friday for a volleyball tournament. She gets home this morning!
In other...totally non-related news:
Again. Why I hate the Man Store. AKA...Harbor Freight. I went there with my husband yesterday. And I did actually make a purchase related to the reception for Luke and Hannah.
I am planning to make this... and I bought the rope to hang it with at the Man Store yesterday. Go me. So my husband says he needs this face shield thingy...and we go into that aisle. There's two other guys there already. One of them promptly farts. Loudly. He then turns around and sees a non-man (me) in the aisle with him and says "*#$^!" and apologizes. Honestly, I'm just trying not to laugh. And then the guy's friend says he does that whenever he tells a lie. Which makes me want to laugh even more. Then the guy says it was the refried beans he ate earlier. Time to go. Ahhh, yes...the Man Store. Good times.
We are having a reception for Luke and Hannah... here (at our house) in July. And July seemed so far away, until I flipped the calendar over and it said March. So now begins wedding...or reception...mode. Holy Pinterest...there are some crazy pretty ideas.
Of course, you know what these things would look like if I tried them. The whole nailed it/failed it thing.
Well not Ashley and Daniel...maybe something cute about love?
There will be lots of wedding pictures to show...this could be fun. And we have trees.
ONE. Looks like Shelby is going to Mozambique this summer. For her Portuguese major. I think it's for three weeks. And then possibly Brazil after that. Exciting...but not much time home this summer. :( And she's going to NYC with friends over Spring Break. So I will probably forget what she looks like. Sigh.
TWO. No school yesterday or today. State basketball tournament. Lynden boys and girls won yesterday and play again today. Go Lions!! Ian is over there with a friend whose older brother is playing.
THREE. According to my calendar... Today is World Wildlife Day. If you are in the woods, and a bear starts chasing you... may you be with somebody slower than you.
