Well, maybe a little more.
It was one of my resolutions goals to blog again. We'll see how it goes.
There's so much to catch up on!
Let's see. In a nutshell. (A pretty big one.)
--As of February 2018, Iz no longer works at People's Bank. I believe (most times) in going by what my mama taught me...
"If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." So for now, I'm not going to say much. Maybe later. ;)
--As of May 2018, Iz and his partner, Matt Kok, opened up Peak Financial Group.
8118 Guide Meridian, Lynden... for you local folks. :) We are so incredibly thankful for loyal customers who followed them over.
--Two months before graduation from West Point, Shelby was told she would not commission due to some hearing loss.
We didn't know it at the time, but that would be the beginning of a 10 month roller coaster ride of frustration & emotional ups and downs.
To clarify, you can graduate from West Point (which she did, in May, with a degree in Portuguese) and not commission. That's the part where you are
sworn in as an officer of the Army and you go serve.
The really, really, really short version of the story is that she waited. And waited. It went before appeal boards. She waited some more.
And finally right before Christmas she was told she was commissioning.
So now we are in the middle of a million things, and don't really have a lot of answers. Other than she is commissioning next Wednesday.
Stay tuned.
--In May, we all (Luke, Hannah, Iz, me, Ian & Belle) flew out to New York for a week.
I will share more about it in another post. It was a crazy busy, fun, bittersweet, proud, incredible week.
And Shelby graduated May 26. So amazing.
--In June, Isabelle graduated from Lynden High School.
So proud of this girl. And Lex... the cutie on the right. We're proud of her too. :)
--Busy crazy summer.
--In August, Belle left for Central Washington University. I cried for a month.
--Ian started High School. He's a sophomore now. 6' 4". My baby. Oh, and he's driving.
--Halloween night, Ian came home from football saying, "I don't feel good. My heart is racing."
Which began a two month journey... also another blog post.
But in keeping with my nutshell promise, here goes:
He was diagnosed with WPW. Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome.
It's an extra electrical pathway on the outside of your heart that can mess up your heart's natural rhythm.
He had lots of testing, wore a heart monitor for a month... all normal.
And ended up having a procedure called a cardiac ablation which got rid of his extra electrical pathway.
That was on New Year's Eve Day. Now he's completely fine.
But I jump ahead.
--November was Thanksgiving. We had a yummy dinner with my mom, who is 92 now and doing great.
--December was Iz's birthday, Belle's birthday, and Christmas. Which we celebrated with our whole family...
(Belle was home for a month), and Iz's sister, Carrie, who flew out.
Ok. There you go.
So now, it's January. Ian is back to playing basketball. And things are back to some sort of normal.
More later!
So glad you’re back! I missed your blogging!
